Overview

What is the UAE’s Golden Visa?

The UAE’s Golden Visa is a premium, long-term residence programme that opens the door to living, working, and studying in one of the world’s most dynamic and forward-looking nations—without needing a local sponsor. It is designed to attract and reward investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, outstanding students and graduates, humanitarian pioneers, and frontline heroes who contribute to the UAE’s growth and vision.

Unlike standard residence visas, the Golden Visa gives you 5 or 10 years of renewable residency, the freedom to stay outside the UAE for extended periods without losing your status, and the ability to sponsor your family—including spouse, children of any age, and in some cases parents—plus domestic helpers. It is your ticket to stability, world-class healthcare and education, a favourable tax environment, and a lifestyle that combines opportunity with security.

Whether you are building a business, investing in property, excelling in your field, or bringing your family to the UAE, the Golden Visa puts you in control of your future in a country that values talent and long-term commitment.

Golden visa requirements

Who can apply? It depends on your profile. Below is a simple guide to the main categories—each has its own rules. We help you find the right one and prepare your application.

10 years

Investors (business or funds)

You put money into UAE-approved funds or run a company here. Typically you need around AED 2 million in investment or business capital (your own money, not a loan), proof of tax paid to the UAE, and medical insurance. No sponsor—you get 10 years’ residency.

5 years

Property buyers

You buy property in the UAE worth at least AED 2 million (or use an approved bank loan). The land department confirms your ownership. You get 5 years’ residency, renewable, with no sponsor. Simple and straightforward for real estate investors.

5 years

Entrepreneurs

You have an innovative or tech-focused business idea and get it approved by an accredited incubator and the emirate. Your project is valued at least AED 500,000 by an auditor. Perfect for founders building the next big thing in the UAE.

10 years

Talented professionals

You are a doctor, scientist, artist, inventor, top executive, athlete, or specialist in engineering or science. The UAE recognises your expertise—you need an approval or recommendation letter from the relevant authority (e.g. health, culture, sports). Great for experts who want long-term residency.

5 or 10 years

Top students

You are a high-flyer at school (e.g. 95%+ in final year) or university (strong GPA from a recognised or top global university, usually within 2 years of graduating). The UAE rewards academic excellence with 5 or 10 years’ residency—no sponsor, so you can focus on your career or studies.

10 years

Humanitarian & frontline heroes

You have spent years with international or regional organisations, charities, or civil society—or you have funded humanitarian work (e.g. AED 2M+). Frontline heroes (e.g. in health crises) can also qualify with a recommendation. The UAE thanks you with 10 years’ residency.
